Prior to uploading images to the MediaLibrary, it is absolutely necessary to compress all your image assets. Your images should be as small as possible, without compromising image quality, so your content loads and updates quickly.
If you use Adobe Photoshop in our recommended workflow, you will compress your jpeg and png images using built-in Photoshop plug-in called Adobe Generator by: specifying compression for Jpegs, and format variation for PNG image format directly in layer names. If you do not use Adobe tools in your workflow, we recommend free online compression service www.tinypng.com
Tinypng will allow you to compress png and jpeg formats up to 20 images at once (5mb max).
To compress your image assets using tinypng:
- Go to https://tinypng.com
- Drag your images directly on top of the browser window and let them upload, and compress.
- Click on the “Download All” button, to download all compressed images to your computer.
